Denise Bertschi CAN Centre d’art Neuchâtel
SPATIAL CONVERS(I)OR. The Villa of (no) Return, 2024, vue d’exposition, 2024.
The exhibition Spatial Convers(i)or is the result of a multi-year dialogue between Denise Bertschi and CAN, which began in 2021 with a residency in Neuchâtel. This invitation offered her the opportunity to continue her research between Switzerland and Brazil, with a particular focus on the Neuchâtel region, where she developed a new body of work.

Denise Bertschi
Denise Bertschi is a Swiss artist whose work engages deeply with themes such as history, identity, power structures, and national myths. Operating at the intersection of art, research, and archival practice, she critically examines how nations deal with their past. Her works are often documentary in nature and challenge established political and historical narratives.
(Almost) INVISIBLE
The exhibited works were developed in close collaboration with Denise Bertschi, with structural and colour elements precisely tailored to each piece. Mounted on 2 mm Dibond and fitted with millimetre precision into the frames, the works are firmly held – and yet they appear to float.
